Special Travel Warning - Iran

The U.S. Department of State recently launched an Awareness Campaign warning U.S. Citizens Not to Travel to Iran spearheaded by the Office of the Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs. This includes an unprecedented “Do Not Travel to Iran”  on the main State Department website, in addition to the existing . While the U.S. government has advised against travel to Iran for years, the State Department assesses an even higher risk of wrongful detention during travel to Iran at this time. This concern applies to all American travelers, including Iranian-American dual-nationals, but also lawful permanent residents (LPRs).
